For much of my working life, I operated in demanding commercial environments where creativity rarely had the opportunity to flourish. Eventually, following a period of emotional exhaustion, I stepped away and began rediscovering a part of myself that had been neglected for years. My creative journey began with words. Writing poetry and lyrics led to the publication of my first collection, Inside Out. 

More importantly, it helped me rebuild my confidence and understand something fundamental: I didn't need permission, qualifications or anyone else's validation to express myself creatively. When my daughter, Olivia was born, storytelling became another outlet. I began writing stories for her, and we subsequently co-authored a series of children's books. 

Painting entered my life somewhat unexpectedly.

Following the Covid pandemic, I returned to Budapest, a city where I had lived for many years and where Olivia was born. I spent six months there reconnecting with her after our period of separation. During that time, I was introduced to a lady who ran an art studio through a mutual friend. She encouraged me to explore different painting styles and techniques, opening the door to an entirely new form of expression.
I discovered a fascination with colour, texture, movement and the freedom of creating something without knowing exactly where it might lead.

My artistic influences also extend beyond the studio. From my formative years in London to time spent in Budapest, Vienna and Berlin, I've always been inspired by the architecture, atmosphere and distinctive energy of European cities.

Today, my paintings reflect those experiences alongside my love of bold, expressive abstract art. Some begin with a colour, others with a shape, texture or simple instinct. I allow each piece to find its own direction—sometimes energetic, sometimes playful, sometimes unexpected.

Mark Splash Design grew from this journey of creative rediscovery. Through my original artwork and art prints, I hope to share some of that freedom, colour and individuality with others. Above all, my experience has reinforced a belief that sits at the heart of everything I create: It's never too late to create.
